Biography:

You probably haven’t heard of Aidy. Apart from a couple of tracks being used in independent films and a couple of tracks making compilations, he has kept pretty low key, preferring the lo-fi sounds of home recording and very occasional shows to a life in any kind of limelight. This shows in the fragile, bittersweet pop music that he revels in writing and only works to cement the fact that you’ll be glad you found him.

Taking the ramshackle charm of Guided By Voices at their most melodic and adding a boyish enthusiasm that tips its hat to both Weezer and Matthew Sweet, Aidy is one of Britain’s greatest unknowns. Tracks spanning across a career of demos and self-releases, Prettyish is one of his most recent compositions – both charming and warm, bruised and hopeful.

Aidy will continue to write and record long after this compilation of his work. But here is a worthy first for a man writing for himself in the hope that others will hear the sounds creeping from between the cracks – each one a small and worthy victory.

Katrise is an Orlando based R&B producer, songwriter, and artist. With over 13 years of recording, songwriting, and production experience, she has collaborated with a wide array of writers and artists.   She grew up listening to musical greats such as Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Natalie Cole, Lauryn Hill, Tony Toni Tone, Mary J. Blige and The Temptations. Nevertheless, her primary influence has not stopped her from challenging herself with other genres from reggae to rock. She calls herself an, “all around producer/songwriter.”

Katrise most recently recorded her first commercial album effort, “Embrace My Music Vision,” a twelve track R&B album with songs that are all thoroughly tied to the deepest inner recesses of her love for music. The album is scheduled to be self-released in March 2010 with new singles, “Energy” and “Slide With Me” currently airing on Internet stations such as Jango Airplay, Last FM, and Sound Machine Radio. FM stations include “The Carolina Beach Sounds Show” on Cool 105.3 based out of North Carolina and WZOE Real FM, “All Around the World” with Rihki Kennebrew in Philadelphia, PA.

One of her most notable collaborations is with locally known Kendra Legare and B Rob Productions. Alongside Kendra and B Rob’s composition, she co-wrote lyrics, performed, recorded, and mixed “Keep it Light,” which won 13th place overall in Broadjam’s Six Pack Contest under the ‘What Does it Say?’ category landing the trio among the top 20 finalists. It won 6th place within the category itself.   She also arranged and sung backgrounds vocals on five of Legare’s songs on her freshman album, “Life, Love, Lessons & Jazz,” (released April 2009) which has notable followings in Orlando.

Katrise has also collaborated with Chicago land’s Songs 2 Share President, Roberta Annicks on songs such as “uBoy,” “Fly in the Kitchen,” and “Just This Once” all available for license through Songs2Share.com.   Both “uBoy” and “Fly in the Kitchen,” contain lyrics written by Annicks, while Katrise did the musical arrangements, performance, and production on the tracks. “Just This Once,” lyrics by both Annicks and Schroeter, was also arranged, produced, and performed by Katrise.

Other notable projects include co-writing with Boston based writer Shawn Lopes on tracks such as “Half Step/Whole Step,” “Good Girls,” and “When I See You,” all indie chart toppers on Artistopia in the R & B category. Furthermore, Katrise composed, arranged, and produced the entire musical soundtrack for popular Purdue University news magazine show, “The Fast Track” in West Lafayette, IN. The show had quite a following on the local level with some 35,000+ viewers.   The show aired on Purdue University’s cable network and Lafayette, IN’s WLFI channel 18.

With various musical accomplishments under her belt, it is clear that Katrise’s new album, “Embrace My Music Vision,” is not just a title, but also a request and a course of action soon to be taken by the world at large.

Las Vegas singer, songwriter, and all-out acoustic rocker Elliot Szabo (www.elliotszabo.com) engages his audience with a mixture of relatable lyrics and infectious grooves, delivering an upbeat set of crowd-pleasing tunes and styles similar to those of Eric Hutchinson, Matt Nathanson and Duncan Sheik.

Szabo had performed as a solo artist and in various groups throughout the Midwest before making the move to the Entertainment Capital of the World. Szabo joined up with drummer Kenny Byrne, bassist Gary Coveny and keyboardist / guitarist Andy Vieluf and the foursome have been writing, recording and playing shows throughout the Southwest since 2007. Born and raised in Indiana, Szabo cites the rock classics of the 60’s and 70’s such as Cat Stevens and Jethro Tull as his musical influences. Throughout his youth, Szabo’s father played guitar, which inspired Elliot to do the same. He painstakingly studied the songbooks of such iconic performers as Neil Diamond, George Harrison, and Paul Simon, and soon father and son would spend many a day jamming together.

“My music is inspired by a variety of personal experiences and stories throughout my life,” says Szabo. “The song themes explore the complexities of human nature within different situations.”

Elliot Szabo’s EP, “Between Two Points on a Map,” was released on June 26, 2009 and features tracks such as “Crawling,” “Majesty,” and “Window.” Szabo recorded the tracks at Digital Insight, a leading live tracking and mixing studio in Las Vegas. Country recording artist Allen Karl is much more than “The Good Guy in the Black Hat”. He’s a seasoned entertainer, international dignitary and preserver of the tradi tional country and western music genre that has defined a nation.
From Willie Whistle to Recording Contract: A Teenager Finds His Calling
Allen’s love affair with music dates back to the tender age of 12, gathering with family and friends in the kitchen of his Pottsville, Pennsylvania home and soaking up the playing techniques of his talented mother and grandfather. Combining raw talent and an insatiable appetite for learning, the young man progressed at an unbelievable rate. Recognizing his uncanny knack for picking, local radio station WPPA hired him for the “Willie Whistle” show, a half-hour program on Saturdays that offered Allen the rare opportunity to “cut his teeth” in a formal performing and recording medium.

Encouraged by the radio station, the 17 year-old entered a talent contest at the Santa Fe Ranch in nearby Reading. Hosted by Shorty and Dolly Long and the Santa Fe Rangers, Allen stole the show and was signed to a one-year recording contract with King Records. What followed was a whirlwind introduction to some of the biggest names in the business. For the next two and a half years, he opened shows for such trailblazers as Skeeter Davis, Jeanne Sheppard, Hawkshaw Hawkens, Eddy Arnold, Wanda Jackson and the inimitable Patsy Cline.
During Allen’s senior year in high school, he and three classmates put together a rock and roll band called the “Shuffles” and appeared throughout areas of Pennsylvania near his hometown. They played for school and street dances, fairs and clubs.

Serving with Honor and Starting a Band: Allen Entertains Abroad
Following his sense of duty, Allen joined the United States Air Force. But music was never far from his mind. He started his first country band while stationed in Japan--The Dixieland Playboys. The group played a string of hot spots in Tokyo, culminating in appearances at the second largest Grand Old Opry opening for Ferlin Husky, Hank Snow, The Young Jimmy Rogers and Johnny Cash. Allen also appeared one Saturday night a month at Tokyo’s “Little Copa Cabana.” On one occasion at the Little Copa, Allen had the distinct privilege of playing guitar on stage for Julie London.

That stage experience was invaluable--and the contacts he made would serve Allen well throughout his career. After a couple of tours in Vietnam, Allen found himself in Thailand leading an all-Thai band as a weekend headliner at the Miami Club in Udorn. He spent the next four years honing his technique and learning to read his audiences.

Taking the Show Back to the States, and to Bigger Stages

Situating himself in Fort Worth, Allen began a string of premiere dates in Fort Worth, Dallas, Grand Prairie and Amarillo opening for the likes of Johnny Rodriquez, Willie Nelson Ray Price “The Cherokee Cowboy” at Panther Hall. The trail then led from Texas to Nashville, where he took up residence three nights a week at such storied halls as at the Opryland Hotel’s Staircase Lounge, The Stockyard, The Hall of Fame Hotel and Moxie’s Lounge. Recognizing a star in the making, Century Artist Records signed Allen to a contract in 1978 and released a record called “Gonna Buy Me a Camel”, Allen’s musical statement about the impending gasoline crisis.

In the late-80s, Allen appeared on the Grand Ole Opry Gospel Hour, by invitation of Hank Snow. About that time Allen was proclaimed an honorary member of the Cherokee nation in recognition of his unwavering support of the Cherokee people, followed by his induction into the Native American Hall of Fame by chief Black Eagle. In 1989 he was signed with Century II Records where he recorded ten singles, a twelve-song LP called “She loves My Troubles Away,” and shot a video for “Face of Love”.

Brief Burnout Gives Way to Victorious Comeback

Possibly feeling burned out, used up or whatever happens to artists who give their heart and soul to the business, Allen all but dropped out of country music in the mid-90s. But fortunately for fans, the hiatus didn’t last long. In 2001, he started writing and recording in Nashville again. 2006 marked the release of an 18-song CD titled “Rolling River,” sold wor ld-wide including the U.S. and twenty-three countries.

In August of 2008, Allen was inducted into the Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame in La Mars, Iowa. Allen released two more CDs-- a gospel CD titled “No Place Like Home” as well as a Christmas collection entitled “It’s My Favorite Time Of The Year.” Both CDs have enjoyed international interest. A tour of Ireland and Northern England is scheduled for 2009
Influences, Advice to Young Stars, and Odds and Ends

You might say that much of Allen’s success is owed to a strong family upbringing, a stable home life and an appreciation for the traditional country trailblazers that have influenced his career. His younger brother Jerry is still a close contact. He married his hometown sweetheart, Darlene, and the two have four wonderful children--daughters Janelle, Rebec ca, and Amanda and son Travis. Rounding out the clan is his grandson Mitchell, the apple of Allen’s eye and whom he describes as his very best friend.

Allen counts Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings as his biggest musical influences. And when it comes to young talents rising up in the business, Allen hopes to be the same positive influence that those legendary performers provided for him. His advice to aspiring singers and songwriters? Make sure that the music business is so mething that you love passionately, then focus, make a plan and stick to it.

Even though Allen Karl has had a career most artists only dream of, his future is even brighter. He now does all of his recordings in Nashville and is gearing up for more releases and international tours. Allen tours with his band, “Canyon River,” and has opened several shows for Tom Grant and Ronnie Dove. Allen considers his band to be some of the greatest musicians that have ever picked up an instrument. But perhaps more than that, Allen feels close to his band members--like they were family.

How he’ll outdo nearly forty songs, LP releases, a music video and worldwide acclaim is tough to imagine. But you can bet that “The Good Guy in the Black Hat” has the personal drive and artistic talents to give it a go.

Devo - Something for Everybody - New album in 20 years

On June 15, the oddball pop-rockers in Devo released their first new studio album in 20 years. Something for Everybody finds the group exuding an energy and swagger reminiscent of its earliest efforts. The sound is of a 21st-century band — fresh and powerful, yet unmistakably Devo.
Devo’s bouncy, synth-driven music has been immortalized through its kitschy costumes, funny hats (formally referred to as “energy domes”) and hit single “Whip It.” But Devo has also crafted a huge body of work and a strong cult following.
The band was formed in Akron, Ohio, by Mark Mothersbaugh and Jerry Casale in 1972. The two met in the art department of nearby Kent State University, and were witness to the 1970 shootings there. Their school closed for nearly four months, and Mothersbaugh and Casale ended up passing the time writing music together.
“We were just trying to figure out what we were seeing in the world around us,” Mothersbaugh tells Weekend All Things Considered host Guy Raz. “And we came to the conclusion that we were observing not evolution, but de-volution.”
This inspired the name “Devo” — short for “de-evolution.”
High Art Meets Commercial Art
The space where high art intersects with commercial art has proved to be fertile ground for Mothersbaugh’s songwriting and composing. He says he wasn’t interested in what those commercialized sounds helped to sell, but rather how effectively the sounds influenced people’s minds.
“We had seen people get shot when we were in school, and we came to the opinion that rebellion and anarchy were obsolete, and the only way to change things in our culture was through subversion,” Mothersbaugh says.
Outside of Devo, Mothersbaugh has built up a reputation for composition, scoring Wes Anderson’s films, the Rugrats theme and the music to the videogame The Sims 2, just to name a few. He’s also had a recurring segment called “Mark’s Magic Pictures” on the popular Nick Jr. television show Yo Gabba Gabba!
Bandmate Casale had been nudging Mothersbaugh to work up new Devo material, and when an ad agency asked to license one of their older, oft-licensed songs, the band asked if the agency would be interested in something new. The result was “Watch Us Work It,” but before the tune made it into the commercial, the song was remixed by the Swedish band The Teddy Bears. Mothersbaugh says he was surprised and excited by how much Devo’s members liked the final product.
“It made us think, maybe it’s time for us to try it out again,” he says. “We’d never really enjoyed collaborating with people outside the band. Devo was always very insular and protective of our aesthetic, and all of a sudden, the idea of other people coming in and taking what we had always done and held as our very protected artwork — and bringing something to it that made us like it better — sounded very interesting to us.”
Something For Everybody
Devo employed a process called “corporate consensus building” for Something for Everybody, in which the band honed its final product using input from fans. The move both upends the traditional model for the music business and remains consistent with Devo’s subversive, sarcastic aesthetic.
“In an age where everyone feels that their opinion is important, we actually solicited opinions from fans and let them weigh in on what songs we would put on the record,” Mothersbaugh says.
Something for Everybody comes with an “88 percent focus-group approval sticker” on its cover; a 100 percent focus-group-approved version of the album has been released simultaneously. The band members also conducted “color studies,” in which they found that their fans preferred blue energy domes to red ones. In spite of the change, Mothersbaugh says he intends to keep wearing the multi-tiered hat.
“That’s what keeps us young. It’s like an orgone energy recycler,” he says — a shout out to a universal life force suggested in the 1930s by psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich. “It’s made out of a very special material called PVC.”
Perhaps the most memorable focus group, Mothersbaugh says, was a listening party on the day of the album’s release. The audience? Twenty cats.
“There were various reactions to the songs,” Mothersbaugh says. “We had some professionals that do the measuring of the reactions of the cats — I don’t know if it has all been processed yet, but I’m sure what we’re going to find out is more information from that. We could have the feline-approved version of the album.”

Holmes places him among one of the "brightest" generals in the history of the United States, and as such, this error in judgement was done for a reason. Holmes, whose father was a naval officer during World War II, who saw duty in the Pacific theater of operations, gives her an understanding of the military mindset, as with her own years of service in the military, especially in the legal departments, she understands the responsibility of command of what can and can not be said between the civilian and the military side."

Holmes, starts off the conversation, like this . . ." A Hole of His Own Making - is the cry among the military leaders. McChrystal wanted away out of the box, and to establish himself as 2012 elections as a true leader, as he has worked for the administration, and they did not listen. So Tea Partiers, this is your moment in history, a handsome young white man, four star general, with a voice of defiance for authority, and a true leader for the party, I give you 2012 Presidential Candidate Stanley McChrystal" - this June 23, 2010, Barbara Louise Holmes.

Barack Obama has an easy choice to make: fire a general who has established a culture of insubordination and indifference toward civilian leaders and partners in government or defer yet again to a general who acquires power like medals every time he outwits or outmaneuvers the White House.
General Stanley McChrystal went over clear lines in the debate about the surge into Afghanistan with freelance comments he made in London. Recently, McChrystal stated that the move into Kandahar would slow and threw into doubt confidence in a July 2011 drawdown start date. He didn't consult with anyone before a public redesign of US strategy.
And now in this Rolling Stone report, "The Runaway General" (pdf), McChrystal and his team are reported ridiculing Joe Biden, Richard Holbrooke, Jim Jones, just about everyone not in their groove on strategy.
McChrystal has gone over too many lines.
Obama needs to fire him. If he doesn't, McChrystal's brand will be validated and the environment of insubordination and unprofessional conduct will be reinforced.
If McChrystal survives his White House encounter, then Obama will be diminished.
That is what this has come to.

I love to sing, act, play guitar and dance hip hop. I sing pop, rock, southern rock and country.

I grew up with music and playing guitar. I listened to anybody and everybody and enjoy it all. I've been really lucky and have got to meet Jesse McCartney, Mason Musso, Trace Cyrus, Boys Like Girls, Corbin Bleu, Keke Palmer, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Malcolm Kelly, Deborah Gibson, and Howie D. Still many more I want to meet - I'd like to meet Justin Timberlake and NeYo.

I have experience in performing in numerous festivals, films, commercials, music videos, theatre, and as a hip hop dancer for Planet Funk. I just finished performing on the main stage at the Houston Children's Festival this year right before Keke Palmer and had an awesome time. I was one of only two solo artists on the main stage this year. I have six original songs on iTunes now or coming this summer.

Although this career is never easy with its ups and downs, the time that I get to be on stage is worth it all.

Mining the same musical territroy as Stomu Yamashta and Jade Warrior, Austrian artist-musician Elmar C. Fuchs is a new age master with a progressive-rock sensibility. Over the past 25 years, Fuchs (Eloah) has produced a handful of evocative releases merging Eastern and Western music in ways that suggest a kind of Transcendental Meditation. His latest offering, Ode To Brother Horn, is no exception.

Standout tracks a la "Paradise Lost" and "Listen To Your Soul" layer shimmering acoustic guitar flourishes over fluid piano, flute and synthesizer blends. The harder-rocking "Human Legacy" features a strong vocal performance and driving beat, yet maintains Fuchs' restrained, cathartic approach. The only real quibble here is Fuchs' limited vocal range. But he compensates by treating the singing - sometimes whispered, shouted, growled or spoken - to enhance his voice's depth and variety. eloah - Ode To Brother Horn

Austrian musician Eloah dedicates his latest album to his late mentor and soul brother Jörg Horner, known affectionately as “Brother Horn.” The album is a collection of beautiful and rather haunting songs sprinkled with Eloah’s low bass voice floating above lush melodies and classic rock elements.

The second song off the record, “Paradise Lost” sounds like a melancholy hit with its sad yet poetic lyrics and stellar guitar arrangements while “Chjong Nadah Boo” introduces crashing drums and effervesant vocalizations that juxtapose Eloah’s soft singing only to then re-establish dominance throughout the chorus.
“Iron Lady” begins with such an enticing melody that it seems a shame that the artist takes the song in a different direction. So different in fact, that it ends up sounding like a mash up between death metal and acoustic rock acompanied by his dark and heavy vocalizations. “You Have Never Been Mine” on the other hand sounds strangely familiar to the Beatles except for injections of a gravely voice repeating “never ever” during the chorus.
Elsewhere, “Hymn to Brother Horn” is an instrumental track filled with electronic melodies fueled by heavy rock infleunces and “Eloah (A Dirge for Brother Horn)” is a soft piano ballad. To display his diverse use of instrumentation and elements, “Listen to Your Soul” is alike a Simon and Garfunkel tune mixed with jazz saxaphones and metal guitars. The result is catchy and engaging, a feat that is hard to pull off with such clarity and harmony.
The latter end of the record has a definite soft, melodic sound with Eloah singing in a hushed tone amongst seductive jazz saxaphone elements and guitar strumming like on the swaying “What You Mean To Me” and the equally mellow “Eyes Like a Lioness.” As a whole, Ode to Brother Horn is an enjoyable and innovative album that melds several distinct genres and sounds together. The only detractors to the album’s listenability are the handful of rather long tracks that would have worked better if they had been shortened, rather than adding on musical trains to finish.

If you answered yes to these questions, then I present to you an artist community with many members collectively known as eloah. With a fusion of many different genres including New Age, Ambient, and Rock, their sound is successfully unique. One of the members behind eloah, Elmar, recently spoke to me in this in-depth and enlightened interview with our Webzine. Enjoy!

Isaac: How do you sum up 2008 for eloah?

Elmar of eloah: 2008 was an excellent year for eloah. After more about 3 years in the studio, I managed to complete our latest project: The recording of the (official) "first" album "Ode To Brother Horn" which was originally recorded in 1995 on a CD-R (which was brand new for us at that time). However, since the few copies of that era were sold quickly - and the live repertoire always contained two highlights of this CD, paradise lost and iron lady, the decision to present these songs (and all the others on this album) in decent quality also on a disc finally lead to a product we are proud of: "Ode to Brother Horn". There is also a very sad reason which encouraged me to make this CD extraordinary: My best friend Jörg Horner ("brother horn") unexpectedly died in 2004 - so I dedicate this album to his memory - and especially to his widow and his daughter.

Isaac: Expound a little about growing up in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

Elmar of eloah: Well, actually I grew up in Klagenfurt, Austria, a small city with about 85,000 inhabitants (at that time) until the age of 14, when my parents moved to a neighboring village with only 3,000 inhabitants. I never really felt well there - it was too quiet, and I continued to see my friends back in Klagenfurt until the age of 19. Then I moved to Graz, another Austrian city with about 250,000 inhabitants, were I completed my studies - and lived until last September. It was in Graz were eloah was founded, where I met most of my fellow musicians and where we played most of our concerts. Actually, the CD "Ode To Brother Horn" is the last product of that era.

Isaac: Describe the music scene in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

Elmar of eloah: Well, since I live there since last September, it is a little bit difficult to do. But there is one thing I found out: Although Leewarden is not really big (about 100,000 inhabitants); there are lots of small live rock/metal/alternative concerts - something I really enjoy. Unfortunately, since no fellow musician moved with me to the Netherlands, we had no possibility to play live here.

Isaac: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment for 2008?

Elmar of eloah: That is, as I described in the sum-up for 2008, the production of the "Ode To Brother Horn" CD.

Isaac: Elaborate a little about whom were your biggest influences in the music industry and why?

Elmar of eloah: Here I can only speak for myself, not for my fellow musicians. This is important, because although I am responsible for composition and arrangement of the music, my colleagues are more or less completely free concerning their contribution - thus one might easily hear influences in eloah music which stem from one of my fellow musicians. For me, the influences seem quite dispersed: On one hand, I really love the Dutch singer Herman Van Veen, or the German singer Reinhard Mey. However, I am also a big fan of classic metal like Iron Maiden, Savatage, Manowar, Virgin Steele, Testament or - of course - old Metallica. Then, my favorite classical composer is Dimitri Shostakovich - the first Cello Concert, the 8th Symphony or the 8th String Quartet are my favorites. I have sometimes heard that eloah sounds a little like King Crimson. However, although I have been curious how this band sounds like, I do not consciously know any song of them. Perhaps I should buy an album one day.

Isaac: Let's talk about what you feel you will bring to the music industry?

Elmar of eloah: Details. And heart. Some of our fans say that they like eloah because it is heart blood music. When listening to new acts, I sometimes miss the heart of the music - or its balls, how my old friend and guitarist Peter Jaklitsch would put it.

Isaac: If you had an opportunity to work with one artist or group, who would it be and why?

Elmar of eloah: I would like to work with Herman van Veen - I admire his singing and violin playing skills, I adore his humor - and I think it would be fun.

Isaac: How would you describe your music to others?

Elmar of eloah: Singer/Songwriter music with rock, new age, metal and rare jazz elements.

Isaac: What is your definition for New Age/Ambient Music?

Elmar of eloah: Listening to broad synthesizer waves with birds or whales singing, music to relax, meditate - or to simply fall asleep.

Isaac: What type of feedback have you received from your previous releases?

Elmar of eloah: We received some nice reviews from the local street paper "Megaphon" in Graz for "the end of wisdom - a musitale" as well as for "Mondstein" and "mondstein 2 - ample jazz". The Dutch reporter Holly Moors wrote an equally nice review about "silicon rhythm" in her on- line magazine.

Isaac: What has been the inspiration behind your CD Ode To Brother Horn released in 2008?

Elmar of eloah: Oh, I summed that up as well in the first answer. Originally, I recorded this CD for "brother horn" (Jörg Horner) who was my musical mentor when I was a teenager - and my best friend. His sudden death in 2004, just after the idea of a new recording of this CD was born, turned it into something more serious for me then - a testimony for a great friend, who will live forever - in my heart.

Isaac: What can fans expect from your latest CD, you are working on currently? What is the inspiration behind the CD?

Elmar of eloah: In my never ending endeavor to expand the eloah diversity of style whilst sticking to its leitmotif, I am currently working on a project together with a electronic/DJ artist - next to a acoustic project with guitar, contrabass and voice only. In both cases, and mainly in the last one, fans will find typical eloah topics and melodies.

Elmar of eloah: In 2009, we have a few major projects: One is the production of two video clips (for "paradise lost" and "iron lady"), the shooting for which is already progressing; and secondly, the start of the guitar / contrabass project. And, of course, if the distance to my friends in Graz can somehow be overcome, some live shows.

Isaac: Time for some shout outs to your family, friends, and fans

Elmar of eloah: First, I would like to thank my fiancée Astrid for her kind support - and patience - during all the recording sessions in the past years. Then, of course, all my friends an supporters, most of all Michael Lukas, who has been enthusiastically and wonderfully contributing to the almost all CD projects - and Peter, Karin, Vladimir, Hoimar, Speedy, Roman, Maex... without you and your wonderful musical abilities, eloah would not have been possible. I send love to my parents, my sister and the rest of my family, and to my friends at Shindokan Dojo for their continuous support. And, last but not least, a big hug to all our fans.

Isaac: Final words from eloah…

Elmar of eloah: It has become a fashion today for musicians to point out that you do not make music for money, but for - well, here the big bands differ - the fans, the art, whatever. It is easy to say that when you are a well known artist and sell hundredths of thousands of CDs. After a history of 13 years where eloah certainly spent more in our great passion than we might ever earn with it, I think it is safe to say that money never was or will be our driving force. We are in the happy position of living good lives with good jobs we like. But we won't make music just to fulfill the wishes of anybody either. We like to express ourselves through music. The way we conceive our feelings and dreams. You are welcome to join.

“Ode to Brother Horn” is a great new age/progressive album from Austrian musician Eloah fueled by poetic lyrics and excellent guitar and piano work. This is an inspired album, a grouping of songs from the early ‘90s that Eloah presented to his then-mentor Jörg Horner (Brother Horn) whose memory this album is dedicated to. Eloah’s arrangements are truly exceptional, ranging from new age tracks with flute and saxophone to beautiful piano ballads to outstanding acoustic and electric rock compositions to riff-driven hard rock. Eloah’s vocal performance has variety to it, but it is ever-haunting, whether he sings in his natural deep bass or in a quiet near-whisper. “Ode to Brother Horn” is well-produced, and the entire album sounds clean and professional. “Paradise Lost” features some great acoustic work, a nice drum beat, and a chilling vocal performance. “You Have Never Been Mine” has a great arrangement that begins with a nice acoustic guitar and drum progression, and is then matched by electric guitar and piano. “The Human Legacy” has a more progressive hard rock sound with heavy guitar riffs, a nice beat, and haunting vocals. Eloah has put together an album that would make Brother Horn proud, filled with skillful arrangements and poetic lyrics. Fans of new age and progressive rock should definitely pick this one up.

Veel muziek kun je altijd wel draaien, maar er zijn uitzonderingen. Voor iemand als Dylan moet ik echt in de stemming zijn, en andere muziek kan ik alleen draaien als ik een uitstekend humeur heb en het niet te druk is. De muziek van de Oostenrijkse Eloah is zulke muziek. Zit ik niet goed in mijn vel, dan kan ik hier ontzettend sjagrijnig van worden. Maar voel ik me prima, dan kan ik genieten van alle kwaliteiten die deze muziek heeft.

Het is ietwat onclassificeerbare muziek die je op Silicon Rhythm hoort. Soms is het pure hardrock inclusief vervormde rauwe stem, soms is het jazzrock, en op andere momenten hoor je vrolijke pop. Nou ja, vrolijk. Zelfs bij het vrolijkste deuntje weet Eloah de muziek enigszins onheilspellend te laten klinken. Er is steeds een verontrustende ondertoon. Wat dat betreft weet het hoesje de sfeer die de muziek uitstraalt wel goed te benaderen.

Maar Eloah schrijft goede liedjes (hij zingt overigens het allergrootste deel in het Engels), en arrangeert zijn muziek fraai, waardoor je ook na een aantal draaibeurten nog nieuwe details hoort. Verontrustend en goed dus. Niet voor elk moment en niet voor iedereen, maar het blijft een intrigerend avantgardistisch album.

Miss Quincy has spent all winter holed up in her log cabin in Northern Canada where she wrote and recorded her new record “Your Mama Don't Like Me”. This toe tappin' collection of original tunes showcases Miss Quincy singing her brand of Grassroots Gypsy Blues and is due to be released on June 15, 2010.

Miss Quincy does not fit the classic Singer/Songwriter mold. She's upbeat, original, and edgy. Her music takes you to a dimly-lit smoke-filled blues joint and even sometimes cross into vaudeville territory. "Well, if I had to describe this album", says Miss Quincy, "I would have to call it 'back porch brothel blues', or something equally backwoods and whiskey soaked

The recording of “Your Mama Don't Like Me” took place in Miss Quincy's cabin during a cold snap where temperatures dropped below -40 degrees. If you listen closely you may just hear the crackling of a wood stove or the swish of a whiskey bottle behind a group of musicians playing like their lives depend on it all key elements in the making of this album. Craig Korth, banjo player extraordinaire from one of Canada's favourite festival bluegrass bands Widow Maker makes several appearances, as does renowned violinist Josh Giesbrecht from the wonderfully weird Resurrect Christ Foundation, another festival phenomenon. Carrying the low end on upright bass is Mr. Peter Mynett from Victoria BC's Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra.

Miss Quincy has composed songs ranging from the dark and lighting fast black-grass tune titled, "Dead Horse" to the song, "Your Mama Don't Like Me" with a vaudevillian flair. You can hear the drunken piano player Glennn Mitchell (Russell Jackson Band) pounding out the blues and Miss Quincy wailing on the blues harp. There are stories full of heartache, a little love, and a lot of whiskey - all undeniably toe-tapping, hip-shaking, and filled with Miss Quincy's signature vocal prowess and vintage flair.

It’s always been interesting to observe how Europe – both its audiences and musical acts– have filtered American music according to its own experience.You never know what elements are going to appeal to Europeans and in what combination.

A Luxembourg-based ensemble called Funky P Society is currently tearing up the
continent with its amazingly tight, bright, fresh take on the prototype of the danceoriented
horn-and-rhythm section powerhouse. The Society has crafted a classic,
timeless sound, combining the most venerable aspects of every r&b style to come along
in the last forty years. One hears snippets of Philly soul, disco, 70s-era Stevie Wonder,
90s-era balladeering, and even deep-south juke-joint grits-and-collard-greens styling.
The sum total of all this is presented with supreme polish. It’s dressed up for downtown.
The Europeans apparently like their neo-soul with lots of class.

The band’s new self-titled offering includes two discs: a CD sporting twelve tracks, and a
DVD that puts videos with five of them. The most appealing videos are those that show
the entire group, although lead vocalist Isaac Roosevelt knows how to work a camera
with his slick dance moves and his repertoire of facial expressions.

The two standout songs are “Real Love” and “Days of Pearly Spencer.” They most
effectively showcase the band’s signature strengths: the depth, range and dynamic variety
of Roosevelt’s delivery, the punchy horn charts, the general fullness of sound, and the
authenticity of the feeling being expressed.

“Real Love” builds through the verse to a robust rhythmic stride over which Roosevelt
sings “I’ll just climb from a mountain / fly over trees / rise from the ocean floor / to be at
your feet,” and then breaks through into a full-throttle exuberant groove for the refrain.
This tune also provides a fine example of another of the Society’s attributes: an
unabashedly light-filled outlook. It’s so refreshing to hear dance-club music that uplifts
and celebrates. This record proves conclusively that being hip most definitely does not
mean being jaded or decadent. Remo Cavallini’s bright, churningly percussive guitar
contributes to this tune’s impact as well.

“Days of Pearly Spencer” is a compassionate look at a lonely soul starved for connection
in a bleak urban landscape. Still, it’s not a portrait devoid of hope; indeed, there is an
exhortation to the protagonist to rise up and claim his humanity. Roosevelt delivers the
spoken-word verses in a worldly-wise baritone that is at once candid yet rich in hope.

Other tunes sport noteworthy traits as well. The vocal effects on “Get the Funk” lend the
proceedings an air of modernity without being gratuitously gimmicky. “Smile Baby” is a
plea to a woman to see past the glitz of her social whirl and recognize the genuine love of
the singer. “Falling” is perfect hustle music. The interaction of the staccato electricpiano
chords and slap bass create the perfect tension for maximum flair on the dance
floor. That’s just the first version. As a bonus track, a remix is included. It puts reverb
and delay on Roosevelt’s vocals, and there is a synthesized gallop to the beat, as well as a
wah-wah guitar riff, that open up a whole new set of possibilities for those moving to the
aural propulsion. “Live by Your Side” provides some stately harmonies. Lyrically, it’s
yet another example of that expression of belief in everyone’s basic humanity, that
conviction that none of us are alone, that characterizes so much of this album.

That, in the final analysis, is what sets Funky P Society apart from the multitudes of
dance-music purveyors out there. This is not an easy world; sometimes joy seems to be
at a premium. The message that it’s worth it to keep looking for it is always welcome,
particularly when it also makes your feel like doing slides and crossover breaks up and
down the dance floor.

Biography:
There's nothing more cliché than a couple of kids in a basement making noise, but “The Neon Rush” makes noise until the noise makes sense, until the noise means something, until the noise becomes a song. The noise started with Collin and Andy jamming in the fall of 2007, but they wanted more than just some jamming in a basement, more than just a chaotic 12 bar blues. With the addition of Mark and Daniel, the lineup was complete.

In March 2008 they walked into the studio for the first time and recorded an EP later to be known as "Narwuar" which featured the first few songs to come out of the noise of the basement. One hundred copies were made, one hundred copies were sold. “Narwuar” help the band get exposure, book gigs, and gain a reputation as a band. They played into the summer, played some new places, met some new faces, and wrote some new songs.

In the months since the release of “Narwuar”, many songs had come out of the noise of the basement. As the band prepared to enter the studio to record their first full length album, a friend offered to record some songs in a home studio. Since they knew they would not be able to record all the song they had written on their upcoming album, they accepted the offer. After just four days of recording, "So You Didn't Make It To The Circus" was born. The title came from the idea that the songs didn't make it to the album would be like a circus, chaotic and fun, and that’s exactly what it was.

It was during a performance at AVCom Visual Arts that their music caught the ears of RYO Records. The next couple of months were spent in meetings and contract negotiations as well as doing the final mixing and mastering on the album. In November, just two years after Collin and Andy started making noise in the basement; “The Neon Rush” signed with RYO Records and their new album “Lines and Blurs” was released on Jan. 5, 2010. “The Neon Rush” is still just a bunch of kids making noise, but more people are catching on and tuning in.

Debbie was born into a musical family in north-east London in 1983. Her father Nick was, and remains, a much respected bass guitarist and songwriter, known as Bevis Frond, and he introduced her to the world of recording studios in 1994 when, at the age of 10, she sang the vocals to a track called “The Radioactive Rabbit”. Eight years later, her own band, Hex, released “The Gold Dust Sessions” CD, covering standards such as “Summertime” and “Cry Me A River”. She then studied at Salford University in Manchester where she gained a Performing Arts degree and subsequently became a successful actress. Her sell-out, one woman, show “Get Happy”, written by her while at university - in which she played Judy Garland - was a triumph at the King’s Head Theatre in London in 2007, being described by broadwayworld.com as “nothing short of brilliance” and by the New York Times as “Heart-warming and often hilarious”. Following this, she played the lead role in the stage play “The Rise And Fall of Little Voice” on a UK tour in 2008. A review in the British Theatre Guide spoke of her “amazing voice”. As a vocalist, her versatility is astonishing and she used this to her advantage at the end of 2008 beginning a new career as a professional session singer. From September 2009 she started to focus on a solo recording career and released her debut album “Voyage of Discovery” on the Tarrab Music label in October and a dance EP “In The Heart of the Dancefloor” in April of this year. Broadcasting on Jango Internet Radio to listeners around the world she has gained over 10,000 fans, the largest number achieved by any of the emerging artists on that station and she has received more than 2,000 overwhelmingly positive comments from listeners. Her second album, “Hooked on Love”, was released to buy as a download from iTunes and Amazon, and as a CD from Amazon on Demand, on 4 May 2010. Debbie has also recorded a cover version of the Spandau Ballet track "Code Of Love" from the 1983 number one album "True".

Biography:
Ahoora, was formed late 2001, in Tehran, Iran. The influences were shown in the early covers: Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath ...etc. The band recorded its first demo tape “The Call of Beneath” back in 2004, due to gain permission from the culture ministry of Islamic Iran: breaking the broken!

In May 2005 Ahoora played its first official gig, the first metal performance ever with vocals in Iran. The band played two sets, First: Iced Earth songs & the 2nd set: four Ahoora songs that later were heard on the debut album. Ahoora was forced to cancel the second night though.

February 13th 2006, saw the release of self titled debut album as a forbidden release in Iran. Although the release can be analyzed as a unique event in Iranian music scene, the foreign feedback have always been stronger.

Ultimate Metal called it "hard-hitting, true heavy metal “and The Metal Observer wrote “They are walking a very fine line, very fit on their instruments" while Chronicles of Chaos believed "Ahoora have clearly spent a lot of time honing their sound, both individually and as a unit, resulting in a coherent and tight album."

The band was invited to play at Evergreen Music Festival in Washington D.C; but missed the lifetime opportunity because of the strict exit laws. In September 2006 the late concert in support of the first release was canceled by the authorities, leaving no chance to perform the album for the fans and made “Ahoora” a banned act. Throughout the recording of the second album, the band missed the chance of performing at ’07 version of famous Metal Camp. The idea was shut down thanks again to the exit laws.

Ahoora’s 2nd album,”All in Blood with You”, came out on 30th of September 2007, which was a major step forwards in many ways. The album was received even warmer by metal & underground media. As Metal Mayhem named it as “…already one of the favorites of the year"”; Ultimate Metal called it “an incredible release that everyone should check out” while Progressive Rock&Metal described it as “A surprisingly quality metal masterpiece”. In early 2008 the British Real2Can released Ahoora’s self titled debut album digitally worldwide.

Ahoora’s third album “Awkward Diary” was written throughout 2008 and the band started recording in April 2009. The sessions were put on hold after 3 months due personal problems and the panic situation within the country. However the band picked it up and finished the recordings by October. In 26th of October, Ahoora released its first ever single, “Crimson Baby”. The song is dedicated to Neda & all who died innocently in Tehran streets during the conflicts of June 2009. It was followed by 2nd single “Closure”, which was a success within the internet radio stations and podcasts.

“Awkward Diary” is released on the 2nd of March 2010 by Zirzamin. This album again has been a major surprise in terms of genre and quality in compare to the previous effort. Few presses have had this chance to check the album before its release. Classic Rock Magazine describes the sound as "Muse and Tool getting all cozy around Iced Earth”, and Rock Pulse labeled it as: “highly impressive enigmatic, compelling progressive rock”.

Within 2010, and with the release of “Awkward Diary”, Ahoora needs and so intends to book some shows outside of Iran. This is the ultimate goal in order to survive and continue.

Biography:

MICHAEL KORB is a singer-songwriter from St. James, New York, a small, tightly-knit community close to Long Island’s North Shore. He grew up in a musical household, where he taught himself how to sing, record and play several different instruments.

The shy, awkward Korb began developing a following once he finally began playing in public on Long Island’s open mic folk circuit in 2006. Seeing Mike live almost gives one the impression that he’s channeling something otherworldly -- his lyrics are shards of dark poetry, often floating on a quivering falsetto, and the sounds coming from his guitar sometimes seem too impossibly layered to be played by only one person.

In 2008, during a life-crushing bout with insomnia, Mike worked through recurring themes in his past, writing and self-releasing his debut full-length, GHOSTS. Tracks like "Circles," "Slow Incline" and "Close Your Eyes" got some attention from college radio, and Mike played shows out of state for the first time.

On his 2010 Winged Disk release SLEEPWALKER, Korb deals with the phantasms of the present. Michael performs all tracks on the album, which was recorded at his home Sixth Street Studio in St. James, New York -- often in the wee hours of the morning. Songs like "Missing Persons Report" and "Off the Deep End" explore human connections and emotional consciousness -- SLEEPWALKER is a map of Mike's inner world. Although influences like Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith can be felt, the ethereal vocals and lush guitar experimentation are distinctly Korb’s. Even the way Mike writes his songs is unique.

"First, I try to come up with the ugliest, most horrible chord I can," he chuckles. "Then, I try to write a really beautiful song around that ugly chord."

Now with a new band and a drive that keeps him moving constantly, MICHAEL KORB is gaining momentum; when he is not walking around St. James in his pajamas, he can be found performing anywhere from small coffee houses to large theatres, dive bars to wineries, and beyond.

guitars, unison three piece horn lines, soulful songwriting, bluesy

blues Lubriphonic's members play with a tenacity and precision that

Lubriphonic is the brainchild of guitarist Giles Corey and drummer Rick King
which began as a residency at Chicago’s legendary Checkerboard Lounge,
where they recruited some of the best blues, funk, and rock
musicians in the city for improvisational live sessions in which the kinetic energy that make a band were initiated.

The evolution from performing as sidemen for the city’s most legendary blues
stars such as Buddy Guy, Otis Rush and Koko Taylor into an original
group came from the hunger of each musician to develop an intense
and simmering sound.

Guitarist Corey explains “Everyone in Lubriphonic comes from the Chicago blues
or gospel music pools. I met Rick King while playing in blues bands
in Chicago, and when we eventually wanted to start a band together
all of the cats we knew played the blues. There were and still
are all these cats that had a strong foundation in Chicago roots music who understood the feel and the nuances, but were dying to stretch out.
Lubriphonic turned out to be a good vehicle for that.”

It’s this expression of creativity and energy at each performance that is
paramount to Lubriphonic. “We are a live band first and foremost. There's a
palpable energy emitted by any large gathering of people,” Giles
continues. “When you perform for an audience and give them positive energy,
they take what you give them, amplify it and then throw it back to
you. It's a fantastic feeling.”

Lubriphonic – made up of Giles Corey (vocals, guitar), Richard King (drums),
Pennal Johnson (bass), Garrick Patten (saxophone), Norman Palm

In venues such as the legendary Stone Pony, The Saint, The Cutting Room, Bluebird Café, Café Coco, Six Flags theme parks, as well as popular clubs throughout New Jersey, New York City, New Orleans and Nashville, many crowds and hearts have been won over by the power and sweet sound of the young talented singer and songsmith, Eryn Shewell.

A recent press article described Eryn as having "the power to woo audiences into an amused silence", with a "seductive range changing voice..." "...bending and moving to the music, especially in tunes where her voice trails off in jam band moments of pleasant belting-meets-screaming... when songs later her voice is soft as butter and seems to roll off and melt into the air around you."

Born in Washington, DC, Eryn moved to New Jersey at an early age and currently resides in East Windsor, NJ. She found inspiration in her musical family and chose music as her career at an early age. She has always known she would work in the music industry. She has been singing publically since she was ten, wrote her first song at fourteen and hasn't stopped writing since. She taught herself guitar to help facilitate her songwriting and performing and even trained as a sound engineer so she could better understand some of the science behind the perfect sound.

Eryn began performing her own music in 2007, and backed by outstanding musicians now tours and performs locally showcaseing her original compositions with a few of her favorite cover songs thrown in for fun. Within the first year Eryn and band was recognized with three Asbury Music Awards nominations and has been nominated each year since in more and more categories.

In 2007 Eryn also began a musical partnership with guitarist Pat Ruh when the two began writing songs together. Two of these songs, Window Pane and One More Melody, were featured on Eryn's Window Pane album. In 2009 they formed Rewbie Music, LLC and together produced Eryn's second album 4th and Broadway which also includes many songs co-written with Pat. You can also hear Pat featured on guitar on both albums.

Eryn's debut album, Window Pane, was released August 31, 2008 and was nominated for Top Local Release at the 2008 Asbury Music Awards and embraced nationally by college radio. Two-time GRAMMY Award winning engineer Jake R. Tanner engineered and mixed the album.

4th & Broadway, Eryn Shewell's sophomore album released December 19, 2009, continues to showcase her ability to create music that is an inviting fusion of genres blending blues, soul, country and pop into a unique yet somehow comfortable and familiar sound. Jake R. Tanner once again joined forces with Eryn and mixed and mastered 4th and Broadway.

ALL or NOTHING officially released in NZ by Isaac Promotions and Rajon, May, 2009; Simon makes a number of press appearances for NZ Music Month; Hiding So Long features on a number of airplay charts, including months on the NZ 40 radio chart where it reaches the Top 20 (May 2009).

Hiding So Long receives airplay throughout New Zealand on the Classic Hits radio network, The Edge radio network, the More FM radio network, C4 Select Live and Juice TV networks (began February 2009). Debuts on NZ Airplay Chart at #25.

Biography

From his native New Zealand to his newly adopted home in New York, Simon Spire has long been on a path towards fully capturing his artistic vision. Now, with ALL or NOTHING, the Auckland-born singer/songwriter has crafted a powerful and evocative debut album, firmly establishing him among today’s best new artists. Songs such as Dying Daily and the buoyant Inside Out are made indelible via Spire’s engaging vocals, masterful guitar styling, and his impressively crafted arrangements, highlighting a lyrical gift that is simultaneously deeply personal and wholly universal. Moving through straight-up rock ‘n’ roll to energetic powerpop to lush balladry, the album leads the listener through this new artist’s striking impressions of life and uncompromising relationship to it, one that could aptly be described as ALL or NOTHING.

“A friend asked me what the record was about,” he says. “After reflecting on it, I realized that what really sums it up for me is transformation. The songs are about moving through experiences and expanding into something new. A song such as Hiding So Long deals with that sometimes elusive connection to a place of personal authenticity, while Alive feels like a celebration of having sailed beyond the horizon of one’s known world.”

Spire played piano while growing up in Auckland, but didn’t discover his true passion until hearing Nirvana at the age of 13. He immediately made the musical shift from the eighty-eight keys to the six-string. Now “completely guitar-obsessed,” Simon fell in thrall to axe masters like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, their “intensity” touching something deep in the young musician’s core. Spire spent his high school years exploring the guitar, serving in a variety of outfits ranging from cover bands, original rock groups, and of course, the school jazz band.

In time, Spire began to write his own material. Inspired by such confessional tunesmiths as Alanis Morissette, John Mayer, and Neil Diamond, Simon put pen to paper, embarking on a new chapter in his musical journey. Spire soon teamed up with a drummer/sound engineer friend and made his first demo, learning the intricacies of vocal performance, musical arrangement, and recording techniques in the process. Still, he hadn’t yet realized that music was going to be his life’s work. He attended the University of Auckland, receiving senior prizes in both finance and economics. “It was a direction I was seriously considering,” he says, “but eventually I realized it wasn’t what I was looking for.”

After graduation, Simon understood that his creative drive left him little option but to pursue music as a full-time vocation. His father, then living in Los Angeles, proved his support for his son’s occupational decision when, by chance, he made the acquaintance of Lenedra Carroll, an accomplished artist and businesswoman known for her work developing and managing the career of the multi-platinum artist, Jewel.

Carroll agreed to give Spire’s demo a listen, and Simon was soon on a flight out of New Zealand to meet with her. Upon landing in Los Angeles, he was stunned to find Carroll and his dad waiting for him at the arrivals area. “It was all so sudden,” he says. “We made our way to the LAX parking garage, sat in the car and listened to my demo. I was incredibly tense, sitting in the back seat and not knowing how the music was coming across, but in the end, Lenedra agreed to give me some guidance and advice. It was such a breakthrough; I couldn’t believe that someone in the industry who really knew what she was doing would actually be interested in me.”

In time, Carroll would become a mentor to Simon after selecting him as the first recipient of her Artist Advance project’s ‘Main Stage Award,’ an artist apprenticeship program that provides new artists with the many kinds of resources needed for the further development of their talent and careers. Her wise counsel included connecting the young songwriter with producer/arranger Joe Mardin, known for his work with such diverse artists as Jewel, Raul Midon, and Queen Latifah. When Spire returned home to Auckland, he and Mardin continued their musical exchange via e-mail. “It was cool to get an objective opinion on where my songs were,” Spire says. “Joe saw something in my music that he liked and pushed me to develop as a writer.”

Spire returned to Los Angeles in order to further his musical career. The next year he headed north to Orcas Island, the largest of Washington’s San Juan Islands, to record a demo with the help of producer Jim Bredouw. Simon indulged himself in the many options a modern studio has to offer, providing further fuel for his expanding musical vision. It wasn’t long before Spire’s enhanced musical understanding called out for the next step: a full-scale album. Carroll suggested her protégé team with producer Ralf Illenberger at his studio in Sedona, Arizona. Illenberger, a Grammy-nominated guitarist/composer hailed for his rich soundscapes, proved an ideal foil for Spire, the perfect producer to help the young artist achieve his ambition.

“Initially, Ralf seemed like an unusual choice, given the range of music he’s covered,” Spire says. “But it was this diversity that I think made for a great pairing – he understood both the instrumental emphasis that was important to me, as well as the delivery of the songs themselves. He reminds me of producers like Brian Eno and Patrick Leonard—producers with a wide range of musical interest, and musicians in their own right, whose personal musical arenas are deep and varied soundscapes. More importantly, Ralf encouraged me to try things I may not have otherwise tried. I think we complemented each other well. As a team, we came up with something pretty cool.”

Accompanied by a cadre of AZ-based backing musicians, Spire was able to bring brightness and texture to songs like No More Words and You, You, You. Melding styles and sonic approaches, ALL or NOTHING is alive with inventive musicality, irresistible melodies and intimate lyricism, all ten tracks having been written by Spire himself. From the punchy More Or Less, to the closing title track, the album is animated and upbeat, not unlike its creator. “It’s everything I wanted it to be,” Simon says. “It has the guts and the drive I was aiming for, it has the color and variety.”

With recording completed on ALL or NOTHING, it wasn’t long before Spire’s traveling jones took hold of him once more. As 2007 came to a close, the young tunesmith packed his things and left LA for the bright lights of New York City. “The more I visited here, the more I fell in love with it,” the brand-new Big Apple resident enthuses. “The music scene, the vibrancy of the whole city, it’s so alive. It feels so strongly at the center of it all. Plus, I’ve never lived in a place where it snows.”

Spire is now poised to set out on the next leg of his artistic expedition. ALL or NOTHING captures a gifted new artist exploring his craft and his soul in an effort to reach a place that’s both true and transcendent. Where Simon Spire’s path will lead him is as yet undetermined, but as his songs make evident, the journey is the destination.

“Making music has always opened new doors and challenged me to explore unanticipated directions,” Spire says. “Who knows what doors will open next?”

Merry Ellen’s new album, “Invisible War”, was released on Monday September 28, 2009 to a packed house at the Saffire Grill in Franklin, Tennessee. “Guilty Treasures”

What happens when a group of musically trained Southern California, self confessed brats, get together to blast out big guitar driven rock? Hmmm… fun? Yes. Volume? Yes. Energy? Yes. Intensity? Yes. Irreverence? You bet.

But… The real answer is: You get… LIQUOR BOX

LIQUOR BOX is a bunch of school friends, all in different bands, who got together “just for fun” to play loud and hard on Sunday afternoon’s at the local middle school gym (Ty’s mom is a teacher there). They found that they liked the same kinds of music and that they all had a like minded attitude toward rock music, that it should be brash, loud, witty, fun, and most of all to rock the house. They sounded great and started playing parties to make extra money. A girl named Mary saw many shows and it turned out she was a classically trained pianist and sometime singer. She was invited to play and has participated on and off ever since.

The band really had something and got paying gigs to the point where they were playing clubs nearly every weekend throughout all of 2007. Liquor Box always drew a crowd and a good time was had by all. The band was invited to play shows and festivals and played out every chance they got.

In 2008 they decided to make a record, scraped up the money themselves, and went into Electropolis Studios in North Hollywood California to knock it out. The result is : Guilty Treasures, which accurately captures the whole point of the band and the record, that is: great songs, pure fun to play and listen to, with style, wit, and power, by musicians who can really play.

Producer Michael Albarian put it all together and made it happen for them. Albarian says, “these guys, and lady, are great. They take the music and playing very seriously, but it’s all in the name of fun. They are a blast to be around”. He adds, “I basically just recorded their live set and tried to capture the power and strength of it without losing the wit and charm and comedy. You’ll see what I mean”. And, “The record is packed with 16 great songs and it rocks from beginning to end. It’s great party music, it’s great driving music, and it puts a smile on your face and stomp in your foot with every track. The personality of the band really comes through.”

They’re still playing clubs and shows whenever possible, still in various bands, and who knows what will happen with “Guilty Treasures”, but for now, they’re just playing hard and having fun.

Lead singer Ty Webb says, “You gotta hear this CD, I guarantee you haven’t heard anything like it, but it will feel like you have”.

Q: So what’s the deal with the name?

Guy: What do you mean?

Q: Come on, Liquor Box?

Ty: Once we all turned 21 we needed a place to keep all our booze.

Q: Right.

Dick: It’s a very nice box.

Guy: Very Nice.

Morgan: And you know about boxes?

Guy: I’m and expert and I’m telling you that this is a very fine box.

Q: Can we move on?

Ty: You asked.

Q: Who put this together?

Ty: Zeus himself.

Q: I mean, who’s idea was it to start playing together?

Guy: Actually, Ty’s mom. Me and Dick were in band together in middle school and high school and we knew Ty since we were 12. We were over at their house a lot because they have a basketball court and because Ty’s sister has awesome boobs.

Ty: He’s right.

Dick: She got ‘em when she was 11.

Ty: She was very popular.

Guy: I totally pulled a “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” scene in Ty’s bathroom one time ‘cause Lynn was in the pool with her friends.

Ty: You never told me that. I thought we shared everything.

Dick: Oh man I can’t even count the times I fantasized about doing Lynn.

Ty: I don’t blame you.

Morgan: As long as we’re confessing, (to Guy), I wanna do your mom.

Guy: Not cool.

Ty: He has a point, your mom's hot.

Guy: Not cool.

Q: Uh, we’re off track a little bit. So you’re hanging out at Ty’s house…
Guy: Yeah and we’re all in different bands and we’re always talking about equipment and playing and songs and Ty’s mom keeps saying we ought to play together so eventually we did.

Ty: I knew Morgan but he was like an untouchable mysterious guitar god by the time he was 16. Everyone was too intimidated to ask him to jam.

Morgan: Untouchable mysterious guitar god? I like that.

Q: Why did you have that reputation?

Morgan: I kept to myself a lot. My parents split up when I was 9 and I pretty much only did school work and play guitar in my room for many years. I got the guitar bug and I liked having one thing to focus on for hours, it filled a lot of time.

Q: What are you influences?

Morgan: Well, they change, but I listened to a lot of music when my mom and dad were splitting up and I found that hip hop didn’t really do much for me, and the soft rock of the time was pretty lame, but when I heard Aerosmith I was like, whoa, this I like. I was also into the Gin Blossoms. So from Aerosmith, I thought the whole Joe Perry thing was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. My mom is the greatest and bought me a guitar and I mostly just posed and jumped around in the mirror for about a year.

I started lessons at 10 years old and pretty soon I was working my way back through the Aerosmith catalog, which led me to the ultimate, in my opinion, Led Zeppelin. That was a few years of work in and of itself and the best training any rock guitarist could ever have. AC/DC has also been a big influence on me. Now I’m interested in anyone who is making cool noises with a guitar in any way.

Q: What’s your background Guy?

Guy: My dad says I was beating on things since I was born.

Dick: Yeah, like in Ty’s bathroom.

(big laughter)

Guy: They got me a set of drums and it just seems like I’ve just done it like it was pre-ordained, just ‘here’s what Guy is about’. I got in band at school because it was an easy grade and the drums could always screw around while the teacher was working with the other instruments.

Dick: Guy isn’t very complicated.

Guy: (Imitating Jeff Spicoli) All I need is a cool buzz, some tasty waves, and I’m fine.

Ty: And some willing girls.

Guy: Why yes, that too.

Ty: Guy is a frustrated lead singer, he keeps wanting to put the drum kit out front.

Dick: But that’s one of the things that makes him a great drummer, it’s always like ‘hey look at me’.

Guy: Most definitely. My all time hero is Tommy Lee. You gotta have the chops, you gotta have the attitude, and you got have the monster schlong, I have all three. The only thing I don’t have is Pam Anderson, but someday I will.

Dick: Yeah but by that time she’ll have to put her teeth in a jar on the nightstand before you do it.

Guy: Works for me.

Ty: You forgot one thing, you also have to have a self made video. You’ve got that too.

Guy: Yes, quite a few.

Morgan: You’re a freak.

Guy: Not at all. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley kept polaroids of every groupie they had over 30 years. I’m just doing it in full motion HD video.

Morgan: Oh ok, you’re not a freak then.

Guy: I have appetites.

Ty: Just to let you know, his other hero is Keith Moon, just so you know what Guy is really like.

Guy: Yeah, I wish I could play like him, but I’ve had too much actual training.
Q: What do you mean?

Morgan: I’ll take this. Rock, well the rock we love, was made by guys that were self taught and just played what sounded cool. They had no pre-conceptions, no boundaries, no self editing like, ‘hey this isn’t proper’, they just did it. You have to work hard to keep that wide open sense of ‘no rules’ in your playing. Mike (Albarian) was a great producer in that way, he always pushed us to ‘just play’, and often we’d keep takes that we thought weren’t refined yet. He’d always say ‘perfect, that’s the point’.

Dick: Yeah there are lots of mistakes on the record.

Guy: By you.

Dick: Dumb ass.

Guy: Butt munch.

Dick: Turd burgler.

Q: Ok ok. To my ears, I didn’t hear any mistakes.

Dick: Dill weed.

Guy: Dill hole.

Ty: Can you see what I’m dealing with?

Q: To think I actually went to school for this.

Dick: Butt nugget.

Guy: Bunghole.

Ty: The point is, we wanted to just capture the energy and fresh feel of our live shows and we never play the same thing twice, so Mike didn’t allow us to over think it.

Morgan: We’ve played these songs a thousand times so we just did takes until we liked it and went back to fix obvious screw ups.

Ty: That’s why it sounds so high energy and ‘in your face’.

Q: Tell me about some of the cover tunes.

Ty: These are all songs we love and we just put the Liquor Box twist on them. We’ve tried lots of songs and we just couldn’t make anything memorable out of them, but these are really awesome, in my opinion.

Q: How do you get the ideas for the songs?

Morgan: It’s pretty democratic. Someone will say ‘we ought to do this or that’ and we’ll try some arrangements and we pretty much agree whether something is worth pursuing or not.

Guy: Dick’s suggestions always suck.

Dick: Buttknocker.

Q: I really like where you mash up songs like “What I like about Cherry”.
Morgan: Yeah well people don’t realize how similar some songs really are. In guitar based rock bands pretty much everything’s already been done, so when two songs are pretty much the same, it’s easy to do a mash up. So if Neil Diamond and the Romantics had a baby, what would it sound like? Now we know.

Dick: Yeah we could do a whole album of mash-ups.

Q: I love the duet.

Ty: Having Mary in the band really gives us a lot of options, if we could just get her to sing more.

Q: Mary, we haven’t heard from you, what’s your story?

Mary: What do you want to know?

Q: Start from the beginning.

Mary: Well in the beginning, the earth was a gaseous cloud of super heated elements….

Q: No, I mean, your musical background and participation in the band. Jeez, this is like pulling teeth.

Mary: No it isn’t, my dad’s a dentist.

Ty: He threatened to drill us if we touched her.

Guy: (to Mary) so by that logic, if I drill you, he’ll touch me?

Dick: So why didn’t he drill Ty?

Mary: We were kind of together at the time and he didn’t know.

Ty: He will now.

Mary: He knows.

Ty: Really?

Mary: It’s fine.

Q: Seems like you two have something to talk about, but back to the band….

Mary: Yes, well I was a total geek and took piano lessons since I was like 1 month old it seems like. I hated it. That, and the flute.

Ty: Yes but the flute was excellent training for later in life.

Mary: I thought you were worried about my dad.

Ty: I meant musical training.

Mary: Right. Anyway, kinda like Morgan I kept to myself and plus my parents are both sort of hippies, my mom more, so I wasn’t cool or popular and I didn’t try to be. I’m very comfortable with myself, got into herbal refreshments in my teens and sex too. Not much to say. I saw these guys at a show and thought they were great so I went out of my way to see them a bunch of times and one thing led to another with Ty.

Dick: Then Ty pulled a John and Yoko thing and brought her into the band.
Ty: It wasn’t like that.

Morgan: We didn’t like it at first, but she turned out to be totally cool and really added a lot to our sound. Now she’s one of us whenever she wants to do it.

Guy: Plus she willingly fellated all of us whenever we wanted.

Mary: You’re gonna need dentures by the time my dad gets done with you.

Guy: Just kidding, she’s rejected me so many times I feel like Omarosa.

Mary: No relationships inside the band, that’s a rule.

Guy: That’s fine, I don’t want a relationship either.

Mary: Shut up.

Ty: One big happy family eh?

Q: You guys goof around a lot, the liner notes are particularly interesting, but the sound on the CD is from people who care about being good.

Dick: Absolutely. We grew up with bands that couldn’t play and couldn’t sing.
Q: Do you think that’s still true?

Dick: It’s hard to say. There’s so much production now, auto tuning, computer editing, session players, lip synching. I will say this, music is boring now and totally limited to what they want to shove down your throat.

Guy: Do we need another baby voice girl singer singing goo goo ga ga?
Morgan: Really there’s only hip hop and pussy rock.

Q: Pussy rock?

Morgan: I’m not gonna name names, but I wouldn’t care if James Blunt and Maroon 5 disappeared from the face of the earth.

Ty: I’d say the the main driver of this is that we’re all pissed about how crappy bands have been for the last 10 years. We’d rather rock and play what we love really well even if the crowds aren’t big. Basically we want to be Spinal Tap.

Morgan: I worked for thousands of hours to get good at guitar and to know what I was doing. It made me sick to hear all this junk making big hits. You know, there’s a reason why ‘Guitar Hero’ and ‘Rock Band’ are so popular, because there’s something in the Homo Sapien that responds to the beats and the guitars and nobody is making music like that anymore. I’m hoping ‘Guitar Hero’ and ‘Rock Band’ will create a new generation of real rock players .

Dick: He said Homo.

Morgan: The only reason I’m in this band is because these guys are all really good players and they feel the same way I do. These guys actually like guitar solos.

Guy: Gotta have smoking guitar solos.

Ty: We love blowing people away with how good we are musically. People just don’t see great guitar players anymore.

Dick: Our generation didn’t grow up with accomplished players in our popular music, for the most part.

Ty: Listen to Dick’s bass work on this record, you never hear stuff that good anywhere.

Mary: And Morgan’s guitar work will blow people away. Big ups.

Ty: Definitely, this is a guitar band first and foremost.

Guy: No it’s not, it’s a drum band.

Dick: The bass makes it.

Mary: Bunch of babies.

Q: I must say, huge guitar is the fundamental sound of the band, but everything else has a unique style and sound and every element is important.
Ty: Oh yeah, if you take out any element, it wouldn’t sound the same at all. You can’t just plug in another bass player or another drummer, or guitar into this band.

Guy: Yeah but we could pretty much use any singer.

Dick: Yeah.

Morgan: I’d go along with that.

Q: Are you going to do a tour for the record?

Ty: We have no plans to tour yet, we’re all committed to other things, but we love playing live together so it would be a rip to go out and play this record, we’ll see.

Morgan: I’d love to.

Q: So what do you want readers to know about the band and about the record? Serious answer please.

Dick: Buzzkill.

Guy: Butt dumpling.

Ty: Ass goblin.

Q: You too?

Q: So let me ask again, why should the world care about your band?

Ty: Because we’re good and you’ll feel good listening to us.

Q: I agree wholeheartedly with that. What else?

Morgan: If you want to hear great songs played by people who play their assess off, Liquor Box is your band.

Dick: Look, we take this seriously, you can hear it in the sophistication of our arrangements and quality of our playing. Flat fact is, there’s nothing out there like Liquor Box.

Biography:
It’s amazing what you can do when you really put your heart and mind into something. With more than 10 years of singing/songwriting, performing, and recording/engineering, Jeffrey Gilliam has independently produced Treasure Island, a fantastic group of upbeat pop songs, both fun and thoughtful all with his own hard earned professional skills. With a strong piano style and a voice that floats above it imagine taking the pop sound of Coldplay, mix in a little quirkiness of Ben Folds and a dash of Bruce Hornsby’s versatility. It’s something like that.

Jeffrey’s paid his dues playing in bands that were doing shows with Elton John, India Arie, Ani DiFranco, STS9, Mickey Hart, Particle, The Flaming Lips, String Cheese Incident and more.

Music was Gilliam’s focus all through school in Southern Oregon. He played many different roles including singer/songwriter, rock n' roll band member, solo pianist, jazz band member and choir accompanist.

In the school of real life Jeffrey has also independently wrote and produced two instrumental ambient CDs. A song from one CD became a finalist in the Song Of The Year and aired on radio shows nationwide.

Jeremy Thornton was born and raised in Chicago where he began his music career as a Hip Hop artist at a very young age. Being a free spirit led Jeremy to translate his love of writing into poetry and poetry into music. He performed in many venues around the Illinois area that gave him the opportunity to develop his own unique style of writing as well as experiment with various soundscapes. His passion led Jeremy to move to Atlanta, Georgia where he began working on an underground album self titled “Stil True”, which is now a classic. Undeniably talented; Jeremy soon caught the attention of a lot of up and coming producers like Billy Hume and Chris Vermillion. He was soon asked to collaborate on the underground classic album titled “Full Contact Sports”; which turned out to be a stepping stone for artist such as Bonecrusher (Arista), Lil Jon (TVT), and The Lyrical Giants (Tommy Boy). Not stopping his stride, Jeremy worked on the project “Dare to Travel Upon the Track Less Followed: An Exploration in Hip-Hop”; a compilation featuring some of the South’s hottest artist.

Multi-talented by nature; Jeremy has now taken his music to yet another level by delving into soul, pop and rock. Knowing that the piano is the foundation of all instruments; Jeremy taught himself to play so that he could express his love for music through any form and instrument. The Smiling Strangers

Biography:
The Smiling Strangers were formed in 2004 by songwriter Jeff Reynolds and are based in London and the Midlands area of the UK. Jeff had played in bands and appeared at both the Edinburgh Fringe and the Greenbelt Arts Festival but had a break from music before writing a batch of new songs that were meant to be a solo project but which quickly developed into The Smiling Strangers. The band features Jeff on bass and guitars, Rue Randall on guitars and vocals, Lucy Winkett on guitar and vocals, Peter Moreton on piano and vocals and Pete Powers on drums. The band primarily write and perform `catchy and hook filled` three minute pop songs but also include many different styles and types of music in their eclectic live set. All of the band are accomplished musicians and writers in their own right and they bring this mix to both the live and recorded material of the `Strangers`. The musical influences for the `Strangers` are many and varied and range from pop, rock, jazz, blues and folk music. This makes them a very original group of people and musicians. They constantly change their live sets to include their own songs and the occasional cover version, which could be very well known or totally obscure. Their live shows are usually sold out and the audience is guaranteed to have a fun and exciting time with the set list varying every time they play. Their first CD `Dangerous Times` was released in late 2004 to great reviews and their new album, `Spaces Graces and Smiling Faces` is due to be released in March 2006. The aim of the band is to consolidate their fan base throughout 2006 with the new releases and also gigs all over the UK and abroad, so its exciting times ahead for the `Strangers`! In February 2006, The Smiling Strangers were accepted to be part of the TuneTank SXSW New Generation 2006 CD with their track `Smile On Your Face`. The same track also appeared on the Australian compilation, `Sounds Like Cafe` Vol 11 which was released in May 2006.

In 2006 and 2007, The Smiling Strangers have been accepted on 13 different compilation CDs from around the world. The latest being the Canadian Violet Femmes Vol 1 and Sounds Like Cafe Vol. 19. Their new CD, "All The Way", was released in November 2007 to great reviews.

3SO has been independently hitting the rock music scene since 2005 and has been described as “a band worth keeping one’s eye on” by The Portal Magazine. Their first release “Apparition of Disorder” (5 song EP) sold over 2000 units independently throughout the Northeast Region of the U.S. and garnered airplay in radio stations in Michigan, Washington D.C., Ohio and Tennessee and over 300 internet radio stations.

Distributed digitally worldwide and physically in the U.S., the band released its full length album “Road Map to the Soul” in September 2009, and is a roller coaster ride of hard hitting tracks like “Descended”, “Anti” and “Bittersweet Infliction” mixed with melodic and arena ready compositions such as “Betrayed” and “Don’t Have to Suffer”. The Examiner.com described Road Map to The Soul as a solid album, that provides a nice break from the typical metal genre, and is geared toward fans of newer hard rock artists, such as System of a Down, Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Candlebox.

3SO recently performed at Crue Fest 2 feat. (Motley Crue, Godsmack, Theory of A Deadman, Drowning Pool), and with Puddle of Mudd, Rev Theory, Candlebox, Buck Cherry, Skindred, Dope and Kittie. They have also collaborated with International Pop/R&B/Latin artist Melissa “Cha~Cha” Figueroa and producer Lolita (Queen of the Beats) Swain in song “Karma” featured on Cha~Cha’s recent LP “Euphoria” 2009

The band is currently booking for Spring/Summer 2010 in support of their new album.

Biography:
The band NONmusic have been around since 2000 and actually the band was known before as Ksiht in their homecountry Slovenia. Seemingly Techno/Prog Indie rock, but so much more than a classic generic generalization. Personal lyrics with universal understanding. are combined with intensive rhythms, electronic sounds and electric guitar riffs.

Their first single called '. ' (dot) was released in 2001, and soon started gaining popularity on all major music TV shows in Slovenia. The following year the band released album '...in profit=duša' (…and the profit is soulfulness) under Dallas Records, the biggest record label in Slovenia.

With more and more stage experience and the thirst for bigger audiences the band started thinking international. The help arrived from UK, when an England based TV producer John Golley interacted with the band and co-produced their first ever EP in English. When music got new dimensions, even more focused on lyrics, melody and harmony now, the group of four, stood before their greatest challenge. Start something that would be sang in international language but still had the same ingredients as before, rich with experiences, stage-ready and a lot to say.

The name NONmusic is exactly what they were after. Something that would represent their music in the best and shortest way. A negate of everything the group despise in the world around them. Contradiction of love songs gone bad, poems of craving, lust, remorse, energy in vain all cleverly incorporated in rich sonic synthesis of guitar and electronics. The music is serious and the attitude has to be.

"Not Everything Is Made In China" is their first official release in English released worldwide trough Echozone / Sony Music.

The songs on album are like a trip like experience, or an exploration of human spirit and interaction through the eyes of a motherboard inside a vintage fender amp. The highlight of this album is a cover version of the Depeche Mode song "It’s No Good". NONmusic version sounds refreshingly different but still you can recognize the song. This song and of course the other songs on the album prove how skilful this band is and their album is really fun to listen to.

The band took this project very seriously right from the start- shooting two videos "3rd" and "Gender Charger" with international film teams was just one of the efforts the band put into their career.

Big recognition for the band was that a band like The Killers found out about NONmusic and asked them to play as their support act for their Slovenian open air show at Hippodrome Ljubljana in front of 20.000 people. At this concert NONmusic could present their music live to a wider audience and feedback of crowds was excellent. That proved that the band is stronger than ever and mature enough to play their music in front of anyone on this planet.

What can you call someone who plays many musical instruments, composes, arranges, directs, sings and has been a skilled songwriter for years? Generic labels like impresario, maestro, multi-talented or Renaissance man don’t seem to encompass the extraordinary gift of Michael Sterling’s musicianship.

So what you do when faced with this seeming inability to describe such a wondrous gift is delve deeper into who this artist is --knowing that if you experience his music through his perception -- the words you seek will finally come.

Understanding Michael's music requires you to know a bit of his background. A Miami native, his musical career started in his teens when he played bass for popular Latino recording artist Ray Fernandez. Eager to branch out into another direction, Michael and two childhood friends formed the group Silver Platinum, who quickly scored a hit on the R&B charts with their hit “Dance”.

Michael then went on to play Lead guitar and sing and record as a member of the Grammy Award winning reggae band Inner Circle. Inner Circle is most known for their hit “Bad Boys” which is used as the theme song for the Bad Boys film franchise that stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. It is also used as the theme song for hit television show COPS.

After touring the world with Inner Circle, Michael returned to Miami. While developing his career as a solo artist, Michael also spent time as an audio engineer and producer at Luke Records, where he produced hits for local artists 2 Live Crew, MC Shy D, JT Money and others. He also served as musical director for BMG recording artist Blu Cantrell.

While assisting in the development of other artists’ careers, Michael continued to strengthen as a songwriter, and soon found many of his original compositions being covered by some of the hottest artists out today. His song “Holiday” served as inspiration for the derivative Trick Daddy single “Thug Holiday”, which is also the title track of Trick’s Platinum album.

Then Lil' Jon and the East Side Boys, Usher and Ludacris covered his song “ Lovers and Friends” for their smash 2005 single of the same name. The song was released on the quadruple platinum album “Crunk Juice” and was the winner of two BMI Billboard awards including ‘Hip Hop Song of the Year’. In 2006, his song “Bedroom Boom” was covered by The Ying Yang Twins featuring Avant on the platinum Ying Yang CD “U.S.A”.

Michael continues to use his formidable talents as a music industry heavyweight. His charismatic and unique voice has been featured in performances on the Today Show and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

It is no surprise that this industry leader has expanded his scope of entertainment interest to motion pictures. MSMG, The Michael Sterling Music Group in association with Infinity Productions, will soon release the first of many movies entitled: ‘ALMOST RELATED’.

Shot primarily on location in Thailand, the movie score features just a few of the crème de la crème of MSMG’s impressive artist roster including, ‘Michael Sterling’ FAZE,‘Supa’ and ‘Swindle’. Other talented artists that complete the MSMG roster are: ‘Strawberri Taylor’ and ‘Leah Mc Crae’.

Michael has just completed his new two volume Album, “Eyes Around My Heart”. The CD, as well as the single “Complicated”, is a musical reminder of what true artistry is all about. The smooth pop and R&B songs featured on the CD have already garnered rave reviews and fans worldwide

1971 State champion concert guitarist toured Europe for 21 days.

TV performances in Puerto Rico on WAPA TV, Producciones Tommy Muniz on the famous Comedian show of the late (and recently inducted into the Hall of Fame Radio broadcasting system in Chicago) Jose Miguel Agrelot; Program “HaHa HeHe HoHo con Agrelot”.

Artist Left the music scene for several years to continue his educational studies and pursue a degree in business. Currently runs a very successful business in Visalia California and has just launched back into the music field with a dynamic album titled:

“Un Homenaje Para Mi Mejor Amigo, Mi Padre”
(A Tribute to My Best Friend, My Father).

This new CD, all original music, written by the Artist’s father Don Carmelo Rosado, Sr. (with the exceptions of two songs, 11 and 12) will delight your listening pleasures. Each song is unique and tells a story.

The sexy vocals of Jermaine Cameron “C-Jay”, float effortlessly above the music like a young Usher and has an ethereal quality that takes you on a magical journey. Born into a family that he claims has no musical talent, his natural voice is truly a blessing. He has matured and blossomed into a polished, professional Artist from the early days of his first performance in St. Marten at the tender age of twelve when he embarked on his music career singing at church. “Some say I got my start in church, but I started singing to little girls on the phone since I was… like 10.”

In 1998 C-Jay joined an all boys Gospel Group named "Blessed". “In those days we were really a force to recon with in St. Marten.” After getting his feet wet with the group he made a deeper commitment to becoming an Artist and began writing his own songs, which actually started as a joke but he ended up writing some really good material. His favorite topic to write about is the female persuasion covering themes that speak about past relationships and anticipations of future ones “…Praying the next girl doesn’t leave me in the dust again.” His music influences are evident in his style starting with the legendary Stevie Wonder, old school guys like Sam Cooke, soulful Bryan Mc Knight, songstress India Arie and Musiq Soulchild.

In 2000 he met Mr. 51/50 a local club owner and did some work with him in the studio for a while, but he never felt that people shared the same passion for music that he had. C-Jay’s talent has led him to perform on many live shows. He has competed and won many talent competitions and even took third place representing St. Marten in a Caribbean Star Singing Showdown. He has also opened for International Artists Dru Hill, Percy Sledge, Hip-Hop/Rap Artists Lloyd Banks and Bow Wow.

“I always had music on the back burner and never took it as serious as I was supposed to. When my Granddad died in 2008 to heart disease I decided it’s time to stop wasting what God gave me and take it a little serious because life is so short and you never know when it’s your time”. When C-Jay moved back to St.Kitts for college he continued to pursue music and met many talented Artists; Easy B, Cutie, and Producer Kelvin from SKN Entertainment formerly Equator Records. He was also a member of the popular Rap Group “Da Embassy”, but it wasn’t until he met Romeo Parris owner of Club Kactus, that he realized his dream of creating inspiring music for people would become a reality. Now he is signed to Kactus Entertainment’s Agape Records and working with Music Producer Niquan on his first album “Premonition” in St. Kitts.

“Spoke Too Loud” was produced, engineered, and mastered by 3 time SDMA Producer of the year Sven-Erik Seaholm @ Kitsch & Sync studios (this guy is amazing). Sheila Sondergärd is releasing her album “SPOKE TOO LOUD” wholly independent, and doing a grass roots campaign to get her album out there. We are currently booking shows throughout San Diego and abroad, as well as sending in the Promo packs to college and independent radio stations worldwide, Music magazines too. Biography:
Obscured within the musically deprived scene of Phoenix lies the brilliance of a soul, Guy Lundy. Guy Lundy is a fusion of gospel, guffaw voice over hard hitting, stanksoul funk tracks representative of his Philly, New York, and New Jersey upbringing. To the astonishment of fans, his sophisticated sound is distinguished by layered polyrhythm over syncopated beats, full of classic soul remnants with a 2025 outlook.

With this combination of soul stirring chords engulfed by exciting new sounds, Guy has taken R&B to the moon. He has opened for the Nappy Roots, MC Lyte and comedian Charles Walden and has headlined for the Sons of P-Funk. He has also worked with T-Life, who discovered Evelyn "Champagne" King, and Chris Arms, formerly of Pretty Poison. More than a great voice and top-notch musician, Guy is an entertainer in the highest order. His unending wit and sack of dance moves-- he actually danced a stage apart one night-- never allows his audience to take their eyes off of him. After hip hop legend and icon Almighty Kay Gee of the Cold Crush Brothers discovered a mystudio.net video, Guy became the newest recording artist of All Mighty Entertainment in June of 2009. With this new outlet for the much needed refreshment of the R&B world, Guy Lundy begins his legacy.

In 2004 Alexis released her debut album, “Never Give Up”, an acoustic record full of heart and soul that received national airplay on NPR. Internationally her CD sold on 3 continents, including Asia, North America, and Europe.

Alexis was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. After relocating several times, In 2005 Alexis moved from Greensboro, North Carolina…. to Atlanta, Georgia….. where she has enjoyed a vibrant and supportive music scene. In late 2006 she began working with local Producer Geoff Melkonian who’s past credits include Modern Skirts, Megan Coffee, and YOU just to name a few.

Her newest release “Let It Go” was inspired by her love of John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, U2, and Atlanta singer songwriter Shawn Mullins. “Let It Go” will be released on the 10th of Febuary 2008. “Let It Go” is a compilation of songs with a flavor of Rock, Alternative, and Indie, melting in a pot that is sure to simmer your senses and bring you to some kind of an Ecstasy.

A portion of the net proceeds from this CD go to support institutions, organizations, and foundations that spread hope peace and love throughout this world. This CD is dedicated to all the women searching for, or living their dreams, and all the men that support them.

Biography:
Rob Michaels is a very talented musician. At 10 years old, he used to sit in his family’s garage and would lock himself away with an old beat up Spanish style guitar, teaching himself how to "play". He had no clue how to tune the guitar but he knew that all the music was in his head, leading to stardom. His fascination with music drove him into a whole bunch of different directions challenging his musical talents. His mother dragged him to an "audition" for the LA YOUTH CHOIR. Showing his amazing vocal talents he was selected out of the 1000 kids to fill one of only 30 spots. So at age 11, he started to teach himself how to play the piano, and "acquired" (as the military likes to call it) a book that gave him the basic structure on chords and placement on a keyboard. Everyone needs to learn the basics at some point.

When he was 12 years old he met one of his greatest mentors when he moved away from my mother's house and into his dad’s: Marino de Silva. His mentor gave him his first shot by accident when he was given a movie script and was asked to write the title track. Being curious, Rob started to thumb through it obviously annoying him. Rob than took the script home and wrote a song called ‘Angel’s Freeway’ (the movie’s title). After only 6 months of "guitar lessons" Rob was signed to Rainflower Music. He played EVERY major venue in Los Angeles before he was even a teenager, and from the ages of 13 to 23, he was jamming with legends like Toto, John Waite, Steve Lukather, and Carlos Santana, just to name a few. Rob even traveled the world, and like most guys, got into a whole lot of trouble, but of course had a whole lot of fun doing it.

Rob became a session musician, signed to a few labels, recorded at every studio from here to London, and realized that as a child sitting in his parent’s dusty garage, that rock and roll was going to be his life. And trust me it shows through in his music how amazing his life has been so far. He jammed and sat in with The Goo Goo Dolls and Chris Daughtry, got hired to play guitar for a group of famous sisters, wrote for a bunch of artists and made and lost (don't all great musicians) LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. The one thing he never realized at that point in his music filled life was that the music business is and was just that, A BUSINESS.

Now he's only 27, with the rest of his life ahead of him still touring. He is lucky to have the amazing band behind him supporting him. He has been doing it on his own for a few years now. He is really grateful to his accomplished team and those who helped him release his first EP on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and CD Baby nearly 2 years ago. Of course all his music was and always will be well received. He recently finished working in studio with Billie Stevens (from the band Handsome Devils and owner of DINKY music) and also Jeff Abercrombie (the bassist from the world renown band Fuel) completing an AMAZING album!

B. Taylor’s single, “Let’s Get this Party Started,” is the first official release from his forthcoming CD, One Life To Live . Co-managed by Pete Moore of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles fame ( multi-platinum recording artist, writer and producer of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, and others), Moore also is the executive producer on the project . This is a first for a classic Motown artist such as Moore to be that involved with a hip hop artist. In addition, Motown Legends Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder will surely support Moore in his collaboration with B. Taylor. Moore’s intention is to mix the Motown Sound with hip hop to incorporate a new sound for the genre which is desperately needed according to the feedback from major players in radio and in the rap community. The music on the album combines the Motown soulful sound with energetic beats of hip hop, appealing to all demographics, similar to the way of the Motown music tradition of the past.
B. Taylor has an amazing and unique combination of talents as a musician by virtue of the fact he plays four different instruments. He is a writer, producer, and performer who has a diverse background, which includes growing up as the son of a preacher. He was a college athlete, a sailor in the Navy, and a member of the All Navy Team-USA basketball squad. His diverse background, unique talents and extensive list of accomplishments provide him with the ability to cater to numerous fans with varying tastes in music across a vast number of genres including Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel, Rock, and Pop. As a result, he will appeal to a variety of demographics and age groups, vastly expanding his potential market demand.

The path to success is no longer labeled

"The path used to be clear -- you got a major-label deal, they got you on the radio, you toured and recorded albums. all that has changed, really, and the new path is . . . well, what is it? And where does it go?" - Steven Scott, guitarist/singer
from the band Afternoons.

This quote appeared in the Los Angeles Times in an article by Geoff Boucher entitled, "The path to success is no longer labeled". I thought it was worth highlighting because the paradigm for bands and artists has changed so much in the last 15 years.

Today, the power of both record labels and radio stations has been partly diminished by the global stage the Internet affords musicians. Music labels once controlled the distribution and traditional radio stations provided the main artery that lubricating the distribution lines.

Well, that's not the case anymore. Bands can put their music online for people to hear or buy without regard to music labels, radio airplay, or any other restrictions from the old ways. But, it's still not easy: success requires self-promotion, touring, word-of-mouth, and a bit of viral luck.

If you are an entertainer, musician, artist, or band and you've had some success with the new opportunities of the Internet and the ability it's given you to build a fan base, I'd like to hear about it.

What kind of success have you had with traditional and Internet radio stations?

Finding a music distributor is crucial if you want to see your album in the shops, whether you're a band planning to self release your album or a label trying to get several albums out there. The task of finding music distribution is not always easy, however. This guide will help you get started and give you some clues as to what you should look for in a distributor.

Get the Ball Rolling:

Trying to get a distributor on board is not much different than trying to get signed to a label. Instead of sending your demo to a record label, you are instead sending your "demo" to a distributor. Of course, when you are looking for a distributor, your demo is usually a finished album, or in most instances, your demo package will contain several releases. To decide which distributors are going to get packages from you, you need to do your research just as you would if you were trying to choose a record label. Check out your record collection - many albums list the distributor in the liner notes. Independent record stores can also be a great resource - get someone on the staff to tell you which distributors they buy from and what they think of them.

Once you have made your short list of ideal distributors, start making calls. You'll want to introduce yourself and get the thumbs up to send in a package. Larger distributors will have front line staff running interference for their label managers, but be persistant and try to get through to one of these managers so you have someone expecting your package. Distributors often have label managers who have varying music tastes so that the distributor can work with a wide variety of labels - make sure you get through to the person who is most likely to be into the music you are pitching.

Make Your Pitch:

Now, about that pitch. What you will send to a distributor is essentially a promo package, but you should tailor your package so that it specifically addresses the information that distributors need to know. What exactly is it that distributors need to know? They want to know that they will be able to convince record stores to stock your album, so they want to know the album will be adequately promoted. Here are some things you will want to include in your pitch to the distributor:

•An extensive set of press clippings for all of your releases
•Radio playlists if the album has received any radio attention
•Press/radio campaign plans including details of any impending press coverage (these plans can either come from you or a professional PR company)
•Tour dates or information about any tour plans underway
•Details of future plans for the label or the band - upcoming releases, etc
•And of course, the music

Increase Your Chances:

Sometimes, the reason finding distribution is so tough is that you are not really "ready" for it yet - you don't have a framework in place to be able to take full advantage of distribution and move quickly if one of your releases really takes off. The following things can increase the attractiveness of your release/label with distributors:

•A self release can be a tough sell to a distributor, especially if you don't have any plans to work with other bands in the future. This kind of set up can make your label look like a vanity project instead of a legitimate business. You'll create a better impression if you can show that you are interested in more than self promotion.
•Promotion is extremely important to distributors, so having a professional radio plugger or PR company can help you case quite a bit. If you don't have the money to shell out for a pro, then create your own detailed promotion plan and make that available to the distributor (be specific about which publications you will target, how you will approach the web and radio, etc)
•Unless an M&D deal is on the label, distributors want to know that small labels will be able to deliver the product. A working relationship with a manufacturer can be extremely helpful when you're trying to get a distributor on board.

Seal the Deal:

When a distributor is interested in working with you, all that is left is to work out the specifics of the deal. You'll need to figure out the following things:

•How many of each release the distributor wants to start with
•How they will re-order stock
•Who will pay for manufacturing
•How many promos the distributor needs to work with
•How long before the release date do they need promo materials
•What price the distributor will sell the album to the stores for (this can change per release)
•What cut the distributor will take from each sale
•How you will be paid, when you will be paid, and how often you will be paid
•How you will get sales sheets
•Will the distributor have any authority to put the album "on sale" without your permission, and/or how much can they cut the album price before needing to seek your permission
Of course, this list is not exhaustive - your personal circumstances will determine exactly what needs to be covered in your deal as well as the specifics of the deal. The most important thing to remember is - get it in writing!

Longtime D.C. radio personality, Donnie Simpson, did his last show on WPGC-FM Friday morning. ABC 7 in Washington reported: "It was a morning full of emotion from his fans, friends and family...The phone lines were also buzzing with calls from Toni Braxton, Blair Underwood and Tavis Smiley." According to Sabrina S. at gather.com, "He is 55 years old now and the station says that his taste in music is the reason for the ratings to be down the toilet. The station is apparently looking for someone with more creativity that can attract a younger audience."

Korean Popular Music Presented for the First Time at MIDEM in Europe

With the export of Korean television drama series to China in 1996, the geographical reach of Korean popular music and films have expanded to the broader South East Asian region including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Philippines, etc. The explosive popularity of Korean popular culture in China and South East Asia has led many Asians to build an emotional connection with Korean singers and actors, even to Korean people and the country itself to the point where many have started learning the Korean language or purchasing Korean products. The craze for Korean popular culture and preference of Korean products has been dubbed 'Korean wave' by the international media.

With the increasing interest in Korean popular music, Korean actors and singers are fueling the Korean wave, making visits to countries all over Asia such as China, Japan, Thailand and aggressively marketing themselves in the local markets. In particular, the craze for Korean dramas that ignited the Korean wave moved onto Korean popular music, with both the music and singers gaining tremendous popularity throughout Asia.

There are various genres in Korean popular music including ballads, dance, R&B, hip-hop, teuroteu, etc. However, it isn't a particular style of music that is at the heart of the Korean wave, but the individual idol or idol groups themselves. A typical 'idol group' in Korea consists of artists in their teens and are comprised of four to as many as thirteen members. Some of the leading idol groups are Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SS501, Wonder Girls, Big Bang, etc. They are actively releasing albums and holding concerts and interviews in Korea as well as in Vietnam, Japan, China and the Philippines, playing an pivotal role in broadening the popularity of Korean popular culture. In particular, girl groups showed great momentum in 2009. The Korean media went as far as to sum up last year's Korean popular music trend, "The Year of the Girl Groups". There are currently ten actively performing girl groups, comprised of a total of fifty-five members. Korean idol groups gain interest and popularity from the general public through their unique personalities and difference in style of music, and are becoming a force to be reckoned with throughout Asia. Additionally, more and more singers are looking beyond Asia, actively broadening their base to penetrate into the US and European market. Wonder Girls is a prime example of a Korean idol group that has made a successful debut in the US. Signed by of JYP Entertainment, Wonder Girl is the first Korean group or singer that achieved the incredible feat of making it into the US Billboards' "Hot 100" at 76th place with the single. Following in the success of Wonder Girls, Korea's two other leading groups are making debut in Europe in January 2010 at a country showcase titled 'K-Pop Night' in MIDEM, the world's largest music industry trade fair. Girl Group, f(x) and hip hop group, Epik High will be representing Korea and performing live in front of international music insiders and media from all over the world as well as event organizers and local music lovers in Europe at the global music festival to introduce and raise awareness of Korean popular music. f(x), a five-member girl group with excellent singing and dancing abilities, was created from the very beginning with the international market in mind. Their first debut digital single, 'LA chA TA', a catchy pop dance number features hip hop groove and electronica vibe.

Having debuted in 2003 with the single 'Map of the Human Soul', Epik High is a group of highly regarded artists with a large, loyal fan base that writes both lyrics and music as well as produces all their music. Having already toured in the US in 2009, they have set their goals to enter the European market in 2010, and are sure to put on a charismatic performance during the MIDEM showcase and introduce their various music genres.

K-Pop Night, the Korean showcase extravaganza, will be held at 9 p. m. for ninety minutes at the Acajou hall, Martinez Hotel in Cannes, France on Tuesday, January 26th, 2010. There is no doubt that it will be the perfect opportunity to experience the Korean wave in Europe.

China's Music Scene Opening Up

Spearheading the way in China's entertainment industry is Kenny Bloom, music veteran of over 30 years, and Founder and CEO of VisiTek Holdings

The music industry in China has significantly changed over the past couple of decades, from a tightly government-controlled propaganda pipeline into an increasingly powerful and sophisticated economic sector. Spearheading the way in China's entertainment industry is Kenny Bloom, music veteran of over 30 years, and Founder and CEO of VisiTek Holdings, Ltd. Born in New York City, Mr. Bloom, at age 56, has accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime, and he has no plans of slowing his pace. To say that his list of accomplishments is impressive would be a gross understatement.

A winner of the Lincoln Center Award for Music Achievement at age 15, Bloom attended both Julliard and Manhattan Schools of Music Prep Departments. He joined Atlantic Records in 1977 (a subsidiary of the Warner Music Group) and launched KB communications in 1984, one of the first entertainment marketing companies. He formed a joint venture with China Film (China's film monopoly) in 1988 and secured the China license for the Warner Music library, which led to the first foreign owned PRC record company since 1949. Over the years, Bloom went on to produce numerous radio shows, television programs, concerts by internationally renowned artists, soundtracks, and Broadway plays. He is widely recognized as a major player in the entertainment industry.

One might wonder if Bloom would be ready to ride on his reputation for a while, coasting through the years to come after having such an illustrious career. But nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, Bloom is moving faster, striking harder with a bold strategy to become a leading content producer. Leading the charge is MOGO, a video site covering the emerging independent music scene in China to the young, hip (undeserved) urban music consumer.

I had an opportunity to interview Mr. Bloom regarding his past, and his vision for the future. It was one of the most enlightening, thought provoking, and inspirational interviews I've ever had the pleasure of doing.

You've had over 20 years experience in the Chinese music business, beginning with the launch of Warner Music China. What are some of the unique characteristics that have shaped its development?

For one thing, massive piracy. The only business left now is ringtones and live shows. That said, there are more artists now then every before. 20 years ago there were half a dozen big pop stars and 4 rock bands. Now there are scores of pop stars and well over 300 working rock bands.

So what's sustaining that growth in the face of piracy?

Basically, live shows. The entire industry is going through a global transition. China is no different in that regard.

There's been a lot of talk about the recent WTO decision opening the Chinese market to more Western entertainment, including music. The RIAA reaction to the decision was to state: "Enhancing the ability of the U.S. creative community to do business in China will generate needed revenue and jobs to the U.S. economy." This seems to fly in the face of the piracy problem. But having said that, do you believe that the decision will at least result in an increase in the international repertoire's share of the overall market?

China's music market has a 98% mandarin language repertoire. It's what they like. The WTO decision is certainly not going to change the musical tastes of the Chinese consumers. And why should China embrace western music in a language they don't understand. Does the West embrace Chinese music? That's a totally open market. This has been an inane concept for quite some time, that every market has a pent up demand for Western culture. In a way, it sends a very disturbing message that "your culture is not as relevant".

Let's discuss the latest western invasion in China - Google's oPhone vs. Apple's iPhone, China Mobile vs. China Unicom... While the iPhone launch in China thus far has been disappointing, it is turning into a new platform being seized by indie bands and labels to release content and manage their fan base. How will the smart phone impact the Chinese music business?

It will be a long time before smart phones are in the hands of the "average" Chinese consumer. They are just too expensive to have a huge impact outside of business applications.

But, the Chinese are super-status oriented and there is an upper-middle urban class. Why, when these products are launched in China, would they not be successful - especially with 400 million mobile users?

Even with 400 million users, you are talking about a relatively small percentage of the population who are upper-middle urban class. Out of the total population, maybe 3% can be classified as such. And they're not necessarily listening to music, certainly not Western music.

Pepsi has been making big moves in China with their nationally televised Battle of the Bands "Vox Rock" and launch of their music label QMusic. Is Pepsi really serious about supporting the independent Chinese music scene? And if so, is this a model that will have legs in China (i.e., might we someday listen to Tsingtao's latest buzz band)?

It is essential that corporate sponsors support the music industry. We are now seeing more of it focused on rock and hip-hop. But we also need local media to embrace those musical styles in order to build the consumer base. Otherwise, sponsors won't be able to quantify their investment in music that is outside of the mainstream.

Isn't QMusic much more than sponsorship? They're talking about developing and launching new bands, like Starbucks Hear Music.

Let's see what they do. It's still too early to make judgments as they have not yet started their operations.

I have one final question for you. Mogo is something of a 21st century MTV-like pioneer in China. You are creating original and professionally produced WebTV content (not user-generated), in support of the emerging independent scene (art, music...). That's difficult enough in the West. What are some of the unique challenges you face – the consumer, the government, advertisers?

It's China's own home-grown music TV station and all parties have been very supportive. The biggest challenge we are facing is finding qualified staff. Every company has problems finding experienced workers. Don't forget, the modern era of China is only 30 years old with most of the development coming in the past 10. The word of the day is "patience". It will all happen, but it will happen on China's terms.
